Utah, South Dakota and Virginia Declare Porn a Public Health Crises

In April 2016, Utah Gov. Gary Herbert signed a resolution calling porn a 'health hazard'. Two pieces of legislation on Tuesday aimed to combat what is called "a sexually toxic environment." The executive of National center of Sexual Exploitation at that time, Dawn Hawkins said "The research is clear: pornography is significantly linked to decreased brain matter in regions of motivation and decision making, and to increasing cases of sexual dysfunction"

"Beyond the negative impact pornography can have on one's physical health, it is also associated with alarming social ills like Increase in sexual violence and increased belief that women enjoy rape" she added. "pornography is clearly a poison that any society striving for ideals of personal well-being, equality, and respect cannot tolerate."

Just recently (February 2017): The states of South Dakota and Virginia joined the state of Utah in recognizing the severity of porn's effect on society.
In south Dakota, the resolution  passed unanimously among legislators who noted that children are being exposed to porn "at an alarming rate" and that prn is "linked to a lessening desire in young persons to marry."

In Virginia, legislators acknowledged similar negative effects of porn, noting that exposure to porn has a direct correlation to "lessening the desire in young men to marry, dissatisfaction in marriage and infidelity", according to relevant magazine.

The new resolution not only aim to raise awareness of porn's negative effects, but to encourage  action steps that can be taken to combat this national scourge. You can play your part in this movement simply by sharing this post.
