Why I Can Never Be Afraid
With a lot happening in our present world ranging from insecurities to war and conflict as seen in Syria, Iraq and Northern Nigeria, a wide spread of viruses such as Zika virus, Ebola virus, Lassa fever, economic Instability, poverty and suffering, it is very easy to become afraid and security conscious. Our freedom is being challenged, our faith is being tested, our knowledge is being sharpened at the same time our courage is being shortened.
Modern living has thrown in our face a natural sense of fear. Whereas, Jesus gives a different instruction (Matthew 24:6).
We would find that it is stated in the scriptures that we ought not to be scared of men. (Matthew 10:28), since all they can do is kill the body, they have no control and influence over our soul.
The Bible makes it clear that God has commanded us to be fearless (Joshua 1:9) and then Jesus says "If you love me, keep my commandments" (John 14:15).
No wonder Kahlil Gibran says; "love and fear cannot stay together, one would have to give room for the other". This is the reason Apostle John says in - 1John 4:18- "But perfect love casts out fear".
The proof of my love for God is that I never exhibit fear!
